This visualization displays Pittsburgh from a CMU student’s perspective. Within the visualization, Pittsburgh is segmented into neighborhoods, with the ones closest to CMU fully filled in and the one’s farther away fading into the background. This is made to represent a student’s mental model of their college town. Familiar areas near campus such as Oakland and Squirrel Hill are well defined, while far off neighborhoods such as Fairywood and East Carnegie are hazy.
